The 20 Greatest Comic Book Movies

Okay, so, I have been wanting to do this for a long time. Here goes. Here are, in my opinion, the 20 greatest comic book movies of all time.

20. The Incredible Hulk
It's nowhere near as good as Iron Man, or Spider-Man, or X-Men. But it's way better than Ang Lee's take on the not-so-jolly green giant. Critics have criticized this movie for having too much action, but, the way I see it, any Hulk projects where Bruce Banner's alter ego doesn't rip a tank in half and use it beat the snot out of everyone isn't a Hulk project at all.

19. Fantastic Four
Most people don't like this movie. I do. Most people think it's unfaithful to the comics. it isn't. When you take into account that most of the movie was based on the far superior Ultimate FF series, it is very faithful. However, Julian McMahon as Doctor Doom couldn't even be similar to the ultimate version. Every other performance was perfect. Chris Evans was born for the role of Johnny Storm. Not Steve Rodgers. Johnny Storm. The action scenes were pretty darn good to. It was a good movie. Not Great, but good.

18. Spider-Man
Insert Gobby joke here. Actually, I think I may be the only guy who thinks that Willem Dafoe's performance as Green Goblin/Norman Osborn was horrific. I just think the guy was bad. Also, did it ever cross anyone's mind how the heck James Franco could ever be the son of Willem Dafoe? It just seemed weird. in fact, Dafoe's performance was the only reason this film didn't rank higher. The movie was great otherwise. I laughed out loud when Aunt May slapped Norman's hand away from the turkey. Tobey Maguire was amazing as Peter Parker. the costume designs were great to, of course excluding Gobby's "sweatsuit" look. And of course we were treated to many, many helpings of great power, and great responsibility.

17.Hulk Vs.
Hulk Vs is awesome. Tell me it is not awesome to see Hulk stomp on Deadpool's head. Or to see Omega Red Yell at everyone. Or to see Hulk pick up Mjonir, and whack Thor with it. Yeah, awesome is the word for Hulk Vs. Did I mention
it was awesome?

16. Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths
When I saw this movie I was thinking one thing: FANBOY EXPLOSION! There are so many little geek references in this movie, only some die-hards will get them. Alternate universe counterparts of The Joker, Elongated Man, Vibe, and Gypsy are only a fraction of the goodies that await! I loved this movie. What with Johnny Quick, Ultraman, and President Deathstroke, this movie is guarenteed to please fans of all ages. So yeah, it's good.

15. The Mask
This movie is a classic. No denying. For one thing, this is one of few comic book movies where an over-the-top performance works. Normally, totally over the top characters make the movie suck *cough*Batman Forever*cough*, but this time it really does work. For another, it's one of few comic book movies where changing the story drastically works. I mean, in the first story, Stanley Ipkiss was shot by his girlfriend. that does not make for a good movie. But, for the record, DO NOT SEE THE SEQUEL!

14. Batman Begins
I'm gonna clarify one thing. The Dark Knight will not be on this list. I do not like it, and I don't think it's as good as Batman Begins. In fact, I have not seen the whole movie. But I've seen enough. I don't like it. But now on to to Batman Begins. First: the cast is amazing. Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Christian Bale, Liam Neeson, Cillian Murphy, they all gave phenomenal performances. Some of the best I've ever seen. The Scarecrow was just as he should be. Disturbing. Ra's al Ghul was just as he should be. Fantastic. And batman was just as he should be. Okay, so maybe Bats wasn't dead on. But he was good, no denying that. And let's face it: Batman kicked butt in this movie. He did.

   13. Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow

Another movie I liked but nobody else did. Basically, it's about The Avengers kids taking up the family business years after they have died. The humor was what I liked most about this movie. From Hawkeye's constant flirting to Azari's "Uh-oh" line. Ultron is pretty darn cool too. So, while we're all waiting to see The Avengers in theaters, this will be a very cool movie to watch.

12. Superman/Batman: Public Enemies
God, I love this movie. Well, besides the fact it has a cameo from nearly every Dc character, I'd have to say: EVERYTHING! The story, the score, but best of all, the acting. Kevin Conroy and Tim Daly are fantastic as the new "Dynamic Duo", and of course, we got Clancy Brown playing a really awesome Lex Luther. So I think this spot most certainly earns it's place.

11.Justice League: the New Frontier
Wow, this is a movie every comic book fan has to see. Cause it's amazing in that the fact it is most definitely set in golden/silver age of comics, and it deals with some amazing stuff. The death of the Justice Society, the coming of Martian Manhunter, it's just a really good movie. Worth watching for all the characters in the end alone. Certainly earns it's place.

10. X-Men
A must see for any Marvel fan. This was the movie that started the Marvel Age of film. My only complaints about this film are that the X-men did not have enough  members, and the fact that, in my opinion, the film did not have enough character development. But it did make for a very good movie!

9. Batman
Classic. Why? This is why: Danny Elfman, Tim Burton, Micheal Keaton, Jack Nicholson... Did I mention Danny Elfman? Nearly everything in this movie is perfect. But I really do think that good 'ol Jack went waaay over the top with his performance. But I gotta say, for me Keaton IS Batman. And that's with me growing up with the Bale version of Wayne. As I said before, it's a classic.

8. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
Best. Batman. Ever. you don't believe me? Watch it. I command you. You are not a bat-fan until you've seen this movie. I mean, Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are Batman and The Joker. Yes, I'm saying this in spite of Bale and Ledger. Bale was good as Bruce Wayne but terrible as Batman, and Ledger as Joker was just another psycho who wanted to kill Batman. the movie is awesome. Plain and simple.

7.  Iron Man 2
Okay, I'm gonna get in some trouble for placing this ahead of stuff like Batman and X-Men and Spider-Man, But I liked the movie for one reason nobody can deny: it was fun. Nothing special, no major character stuff, but it was FUN. That's why I've placed it here. Cause, I mean, what's not to love about Happy Hogan struggling to defeat a security guard, then turning around to Black Widow has taken out the rest in a matter of seconds? Or Mickey Rourke playing a seriously cool villain? Or for that matter, what's not to love about this movie actually having a decent villain? You see, this movie was fun. That's why it's here.

6. Planet Hulk
I'll be honest. I've never really like the Hulk. I mean, he's a guy becomes big, green, dumb, and angry. What's so special about that? The only reason I watched The Incredible Hulk was to prepare for The Avengers. So, imagine my surprise when, on New Year's Eve, 2010, I ran across Planet Hulk being shown on Disney XD. I've got nothing better to do, so i decide to watch it. To my surprise, it's actually GOOD. *Gasp!* so I go out and rent it to see the parts that were cut. IT IS AMAZING! I love his movie. that is why it is a part of my top ten.

5. Spider-Man 2
This movie is way better than the original in so many ways. For one, barley any Dafoe, for another, a vilain who doesn't look dumb, and cracks corny jokes but still comes across scary (thank you Alfred Molina!), or James Franco giving his best work ever put into Harry Osborn, perfectly mastering Harry's blind rage towards Spider-man, and then his shock at discovering that his best friend is his worst enemy. Yeah, one of the best CB movies ever.

4. Iron Man
Presenting: the only movie in the world where the hero can be an idiot and completely awesome at the same time. This movie is pretty funny, and VERY AWESOME. everyone I know loves it. It's that good.
3. X2
This movie is SO good. The characterization. The action. The Humor. Pyro (I am a total Pyro fan). And the sheer awesomeness. Plus NIGHTCRAWLER! The fuzzy blue one himself is portrayed almost perfectly in this movie, missing only his trademark sense of humor.

2. Daredevil

Yeah, I'm gonna get in trouble. This movie is repeatedly being called bad, terrible, suckish, by a lot of fans. I think it's awesome. Here's why:
The Good:
Collin Farrel as Bullseye (hilarious and awesome) , Micheal Clarke Duncan as Kingpin (amazing), Jon Favereau as Foggy Nelson, Bullseye and the peanut (if you don't know what that means go here.
The Bad:
Ben Affleck as Daredevil
The I-Don't-Know:
Jennifer Garner as Elektra
If you were paying attention, you may have noticed that the good far outnumbered the bad. it's a good movie filled with awesomeness but it still takes second place to...

1. Scott Pilgrim Vs The World

I LOVE THIS MOVIE! (insert "power of love" joke here) It is hilarious, I first saw it two weeks ago, and I've seen six times since. This Epic of Epic Epicness was built for geeks. Video game references, crazy bands, neat songs, AMAZING acting, if you're a geek this is a must see. I can't find a single thing wrong with it. And so, Scott, Knives, Ramona, Kim, Young Neil, Todd, Gideon, Matthew and friends all take home 1!  Hope you like this, because it was exasperating, so I don't think I'll Be doing this again.
