Super-Hero Spotlight: Bane

As I said earlier, I will be posting profiles on villains that will be featured in the upcoming superhero movies in 2011 and 2012. Now for the man who broke the bat: Bane.
Bane was thrown into prison when he was a boy. He decided to use this time to train his skills. His only friend during this time was a teddy bear he called Osito (little bear). Osito also concealed a knife. Bane ultimately establishes himself as the "king" of Peña Dura prison. The prison's controllers take note and eventually force him to become a test subject for a mysterious drug known as Venom which had killed all other subjects. The Peña Dura prison Venom experiment nearly kills Bane at first, but he survives and finds the drug vastly increases his physical strength, although he needs to take it every 12 hours (via a system of tubes pumped directly into his brain) or he would suffer debilitating side effects. Bane escaped prison, conivnced that Batman was a demonic bat that had haunted his dreams since childhood. To weaken Batman, he demolished the walls of Arkham Asylum, releasing several of the Dark Knight's deadliest foes. After Batman had captured them all, Bane approached the weakened crime fighter. Bane then did what no other human had accomplished- he broke Batman's back.

After Batman healed, Bane continued to plague him over many years. Despite what many people may think, Bane is actually one of Batman's smartest foes. He is also not technically insane. Bane has been made into several forms of media, including video games and animated shows.
Definatley the least successful interpetation was in Batman and Robin. Bane was made very dumb, not too strong, and a henchman for Poison Ivy. Hope we never see that version again.
Hopefully, Tom Hardy can finally do the character justice in 2012's The Dark Knight Rises.
