Super-Hero Spotlight: The Red Skull

Hey! In anticipation of the tons of super hero movies coming later this year, every day for a week I am going to post one or two posts spotlighting the characters that will be appearing in these movies. First up:
Captain America's arch enemy, The Red Skull. Here is his first comic book appearance:
He was intended to be a one-time enemy and was quickly killed off in his first appearance. But he proved so popular he was brought back again and again, quickly becoming Cap's archenemy. After cap's series was canceled, The Red Skull went with it. When Cap was resurrected, The Red Skull wasn't far behind. He soon sought power of the Tessaract, or the Cosmic Cube. The Cube provided several memorable battles. Over the years Cap and the Skull fought many times, but undoubtedly the biggest victory came for the Skull when he, Doctor Faustus, and Crossbones finally pulled off their life's dream: they killed Captain America. Being led out of a courthouse after his trail for the "crimes" he committed during the super hero civil war. Doctor Faustus hypnotized Cap's girlfriend, Sharon Carter, into shooting him. In the ensuing chaos, Crossbones shot him another two times.
Over the years many attempts have been made to bring the Skull to the screen, but definitely the least successful was in the 90's Cap movie.
I'll just say this: it SUCKED. Hope that the new movie CAPTAIN AMERICA:THE FIRST AVENGER will do a better job, especially with Hugo Weaving playing the Skull. Check out these pictures:
Note that in the movie, Red Skull will wear a human mask to hide his real face, in the last two pictures he is indeed holding the Cosmic Cube, and if you look closely at the last photo, you can see some red showing. Hmm... is it blood, or hi real face? Hmm...
